Recovery is Possible

As a CCI Certified Eating Disorder Recovery Coach, I do not provide dietary or therapy services but work alongside your treatment team providing a more hands on approach to implementing behavior change in your daily life. Using the principles from Carolyn Costin’s book 8 Keys to Recovery from an Eating Disorder, and my own experience with an eating disorder, I help you create tangible steps and goals to use in the moment instead of turning to eating disorder behaviors. Because the spiritual aspect was so significant in my recovery, I can incorporate a faith based approach into our sessions if desired.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is recovery really possible?

Yes! When I was convinced I would never recover, my life felt empty and hopeless. However, I know now that it is possible! I found lasting freedom and I want to help you find it too.

What does it look like to be fully recovered?

According to Carolyn Costin, being recovered is when

  • You can accept your natural body size and shape
  • No longer have a self-destructive or unnatural relationship with food or exercise
  • Food and weight take a proper perspective in your life and what you weigh is not more important that who you are, in fact, actual numbers are of little or no importance at all
  • You will not compromise your health or betray your soul to look a certain way, wear a certain size or reach a certain number on the scale
  • You do not use eating disorder behaviors to deal with, distract from or cope with other problems.

  • How is coaching different from therapy?

A therapist is a licensed professional who is trained in helping you uncover the why behind your struggles. A coach is trained to help you implement behavior change in the here and now of your day to day life.

If I’m already in therapy, how does adding coaching benefit my recovery?
  • Coaching works best when paired with therapy. Therapy is vital for processing the psychological, emotional and mental aspects of your past and present life experiences.
  • Coaching focuses on tangibly healing your relationship with food and your body in your present experiences which is an important aspect of recovery. The entire process works best when all your providers collaborate.
  • Do you do dietary work?

No. I am not a registered dietitian. While I can hold you accountable to your meal plan given to you by your dietitian, I am not qualified to create them.

Do you have any requirements for working together?

    For 18 and under:

  • parental consent
  • Working with a therapist or dietitian
  • Permission to collaborate with treatment team
  • Family package so that everyone can be on the same page regarding treatment and progress.
  • Payment completed by the Monday of each week
  • For 18 and over:

  • working with a therapist or dietitian
  • permission to collaborate with treatment team
  • payment completed by the Monday of each week
  • If I don’t have a treatment team, can you help me put one in place?

Yes, I can help you find treatment providers in your area.

    Do you meet with caregivers?

Yes. A caregiver can add on a 45 min session for $50 up to 3 times. After that if caregivers want more support, they can upgrade to the family package. See packages and services for more info.

How often do you meet with clients?

Typically once a week. However, if clients need more support they have the option of adding additional sessions for $75 each or splitting their session into two 25min sessions a week. Similarly we can meet more infrequently but I recommend meeting every week to maintain momentum in your recovery.

How long does the overall coaching process last?

There is no specific timeline. It is determined on a case by case basis influenced by a number of factors regarding progress, need and finances.

Since all our sessions are virtual, is your platform secure and HIPPA compliant?

    Yes!

    Do you take insurance?

No, I do not take insurance.

How much do your services cost?

    See packages and services.

Is there an additional cost for materials?

Yes. If you’re interested in traditional coaching, I require Carolyn Costin’s 8 Keys Workbook for $25. Her other books are encouraged but optional. If you’re interested in doing the Transformed Bible Study, the book is $20.
